The James River Association was established by a group of concerned citizens
living along the Lower James River in 1976 as the Lower James River Association.
In the mid-1990's, its name changed to the present James River Association in
an effort to include the entire James River watershed.
The mission of the James River Association is to be guardian of the James River.
We provide a voice for the river and take action to promote conservation and
responsible stewardship of its natural resources.

Our Mission is to ensure that individuals and families have the freedom,
information and ability to make their own informed reproductive choices.
We believe that...
Each individual has a basic right to control his/her reproductive life
Individual control will lead to a better quality of life and stronger
families and communities
Reproductive health decisions must be voluntary and private
"In the end, Planned Parenthood is much more than a set of health services and
advocacy strategies. Planned Parenthood is an idea. It is a moral vision about
wanted children, respect and equality for women, healthy families, sexual
responsibility, and the individual's right to make reproductive choices
without outside interference."
